Update on jcsonline!!!

Well this is crazy but right now I am in the middle of trying to get a new website going to take this blogging thing to another level. No the post’s content won’t change it will range from newlywed topics, sports, ministry w/ a focus on Children’s Ministry, tech and funny stuff.

So I am prepping you for a move.

People say that if you have a good thing going don’t change it.

I say if you have a good thing going, why not make it great??

So here is to taking it to the next level.

Kids and Truth

I have the wonderful opportunity to teach kids on a weekly basis. I desire to teach them truths about God each and every time that I get the chance. I often remember how my faith has grown over my life. I continually think what are some things that I wish that I had known about God when I was 6-13 years old.

A couple that I have come up with are these:

  • God is not angry with me.
  • God wants the best for my life
  • God loves me more than I love myself.

If we could get a generation of kids to understand these three truths about God, I think it would do wonders for their entire lives. Imagine grasping the truth that God is not angry with you at age 10 and living your entire life with that truth in tow.

So with that said, what are some truths that you wish you had known as a kid about God?

Just Give Up

Alot of times in our leadership, we come to a point where we must make a decision for growth. We know that we can’t possibly control all that is given to us and we must find someone capable enough, skilled enough, gifted enough, passionate enough, strong-willed enough, careful enough, and worried-enough that it reminds ourselves of us. But the reality is that the person just described doesn’t exist except for in you.

Only you have the gifts and talents that you have in the distribution that you have them in. But you know that you have to pass some things on in order to grow past this and take the next step. Even Jesus as His mission was accomplished left the fate of His movement in the hands of mere mortals (not just a cliche in this instance).

Yeah there was a calling, yeah there was training, yeah there were decisions and times of struggle. But then there was a release. Jesus handed over the reigns. Where is that area or program or ministry that you just need to give up on? Where do you know God is leading you to give up control?

No man is fit to command another that cannot command himself.

In honor of V-Day!

I’ve shown this video a few times but just as a throwback for my new readers and as our first V-Day as a married couple, I wanted to show this video again.

This is our engagement. Totally a surprise for Kristen. Check it out!

Word for Today

There are times in my life where God is just speaking through me regardless of the brevity of the situation. I really believe that God has given me Psalm 77 in my heart to tell people over the last few weeks. It’s today’s reading for YouVersion, which is a sick reader program for the Word that you need to check out in case you’ve been under a rock.

But so many times in our lives we think the next obstacle is too big. We are wondering how God is going to get us through it. God was faithful, is faithful, and will be faithful. But I think everyone would agree that sometimes our heart is like this:

v.2 “In the day of my trouble I sought the Lord;
In the night my hand was stretched out without weariness;
My soul refused to be comforted.”

And yet our God is faithful…

and we think to ourselves:

7 Will the Lord reject forever?
And will He never be favorable again?

8 Has His lovingkindness ceased forever?
Has His promise come to an end forever?

9 Has God forgotten to be gracious,
Or has He in anger withdrawn His compassion? Selah

And yet He is faithful…

My word for you guys out there is this. God is faithful. Remember where God has taken you before. I know that in my life and the people’s lives around me this is really hitting us hard. But our God is faithful:

11 I shall remember the deeds of the Lord ;
Surely I will remember Your wonders of old.

12 I will meditate on all Your work
And muse on Your deeds.

13 Your way, O God, is holy;
What god is great like our God?

14 You are the God who works wonders;
You have made known Your strength among the peoples.

15 You have by Your power redeemed Your people,
The sons of Jacob and Joseph. Selah.

16 The waters saw You, O God;
The waters saw You, they were in anguish;
The deeps also trembled.

17 The clouds poured out water;
The skies gave forth a sound;
Your arrows flashed here and there.

18 The sound of Your thunder was in the whirlwind;
The lightnings lit up the world;
The earth trembled and shook.

19 Your way was in the sea
And Your paths in the mighty waters,
And Your footprints may not be known.

20 You led Your people like a flock
By the hand of Moses and Aaron.

So if you can see I’m in the middle of some designing

First, I want to know your honest opinion ( I learned all my design from the internet and My Boss, thanks Ned!) about the banner at the top?

And Secondly, I want to know what do you love in a blog.

So I would like to add a Poll for you guys. What does it for you in a blog? What is the number one thing you look for? Feel Free to add a comment to tell me what you think?
